Well, January was a wash. I think we can all agree that life came at us fast the last few weeks. I ended up not accomplishing anything I planned, except for acquiring a lot of books related to topics I study, and starting a project bag for socks.

As today is Imbolc or St Brigid’s Feast Day, the house is has started its ‘Spring cleaning’ stage, which is actually just cleaning all the things we forgot to get to last year. We have been meaning to downsize a lot of our things, and hope this is the year I finally get to liquidating some of the things my father left to me when he passed.

My current plans for the month are:

    1) to read at least 4 nonfiction books, including finishing those that have been in limbo for a while – Women, Race, & Class by Angela Y. Davis and The Four Horsemen: The Conversation that Sparked an Atheist Revolution.

    2) Finish the WIPs I have, such as the sock project bag, an 18th centuy petticoat, and a c2c blanket. Then, that leaves March open to cast on more projects.

    3) I really need to get my Zettlekasten in motion. I have so much research I’ve saved to my phone these last few weeks, and I need to start collating it all into a system.

So, I guess February is going to be another busy month. I hope to remember to post here more regularly.

This year, I have decided to do what I’ve been thinking about for a long time: writing about my history research and craft experience for public consumption. I expect to toss a bunch of random information and projects up here, as my research never follows a linear path. I would also love to share patterns and techniques that I learn along the way.

I hope to make this a place for community, learning how we can return to our roots as a society, and using history as the lesson it should be.
